Calendar integration for business software workspaces

AppConnect links a third-party calendar account to the business software workspace its owner already uses, so that appointments booked in that workspace appear on their calendar and times they are already committed are not offered to anyone else.

AppConnect is not a calendar and not a booking product of its own. It is the connector in between: the user authorises their calendar account once, chooses which calendar to use, and from then on the workspace and the calendar stay in step. Google Calendar is supported today. Support for Microsoft Outlook calendars is planned and is not available yet.

What it does

Connect an account

The user signs in with their calendar provider from inside their workspace and picks which of their calendars the workspace should use. Nothing is written anywhere else.

Keep appointments in sync

When an appointment is booked, rescheduled or cancelled in the workspace, AppConnect creates, updates or removes the matching event on the chosen calendar.

Prevent double-booking

Before a time slot is offered, AppConnect checks the busy periods on the chosen calendar so that a slot the user is already committed to is not offered to someone else.

Google Calendar data AppConnect uses

AppConnect requests two Google OAuth scopes. Each one is requested for the single purpose described beside it, and for nothing else.

Why it is needed: to create, update and remove calendar events that correspond to appointments booked in the user's workspace. Without it, a booking made in the workspace could not appear on the user's calendar, and a cancellation could not remove it.

Why it is needed: to list the calendars on the account so the user can choose which one to connect, and to read busy and free periods on that calendar so the product does not offer a time the user is already booked for.

AppConnect's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Disconnecting

A connection can be removed at any time, from either side:

In the workspace where the calendar was connected, disconnect the calendar. The stored authorisation is deleted, along with the busy times AppConnect had imported from that calendar, so it stops reading and writing immediately.
Or revoke access directly with Google at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which withdraws the authorisation from Google's side.

Events that AppConnect already placed on a calendar belong to that calendar and stay there unless the appointment is cancelled in the workspace, or the user deletes the event themselves.

Who operates AppConnect

AppConnect is operated by Velocity Automation Corp. It is the calendar integration used by the business software platforms that Velocity Automation Corp operates, and by the customer workspaces running on them.
